Type: kshetra
Listener: dvijottama (Citraśarman)
Scene: The Lord instructs the brāhmaṇa: a calm teaching posture, hand raised in assurance; behind, a symbolic vision of countless liṅgas standing firm across the worlds, with a more radiant ‘prathama’ liṅga hinted at.
Śiva affirms the inherent sanctity and fixed nature of the liṅga, especially one of primordial and Brahmā-sanctioned origin.
The Hāṭakeśvara tradition is reinforced by emphasizing the special status of the Brahmā-made primal liṅga associated with this Māhātmya.
No direct prescription; it provides a doctrinal reason why a liṅga is not ordinarily “moved,” shaping how installation traditions are understood.
