Transliteration

vyasya vedānmahābuddhirnānā śākhā prabhedataḥ | aṣṭādaśapurāṇāni sūtādīnparipāṭhya ca

Translation

Vyāsa, de grande inteligência, dispôs os Vedas em muitas śākhās e divisões; e também fez com que os dezoito Purāṇas fossem devidamente ensinados e recitados por Sūta e por outros.
