जनमेजय उवाच । द्वैपायनप्रसादेन ज्ञानवानसि मे मतः । वैशंपायन तस्मात्त्वां पृच्छामि ऋषिसन्निधौ

janamejaya uvāca | dvaipāyanaprasādena jñānavānasi me mataḥ | vaiśaṃpāyana tasmāttvāṃ pṛcchāmi ṛṣisannidhau

Janamejaya disse: «Pela graça de Dvaipāyana (Vyāsa), considero-te dotado de verdadeiro conhecimento. Por isso, ó Vaiśaṃpāyana, interrogo-te aqui, na presença dos ṛṣis».
