शिशुकस्य शिवशास्त्रप्राप्तिः (Śiśuka’s Attainment of Śaiva Teaching and Grace)
मंत्रं च ते मया दत्तं गृहाण मदनुज्ञया । अनेनैवाशु जप्तेन रक्षा तव भविष्यति
maṃtraṃ ca te mayā dattaṃ gṛhāṇa madanujñayā | anenaivāśu japtena rakṣā tava bhaviṣyati
“Aceita, com minha permissão, o mantra que te concedi. Pela rápida repetição (japa) deste mesmo mantra, a proteção certamente surgirá para ti.”

Significance: Highlights mantra as Śiva’s direct protective agency; receiving and practicing it with guru/Īśvara-anugraha is itself rakṣā.
Role: nurturing
It presents mantra as Shiva’s grace (anugraha): when received with the guru/deity’s sanction and repeated with faith, it becomes a living protection that removes fear and loosens bondage (pāśa) around the soul (paśu).
In Saguna Shiva worship, the mantra is a direct means to invoke Shiva’s presence—often alongside Linga-pūjā—so that the devotee is guarded inwardly (mind, prāṇa) and outwardly (obstacles), aligning devotion with divine protection.
Mantra-japa done promptly and consistently—ideally after receiving authorization (anujñā), with purity, focus, and devotional intent; it may be paired with Shaiva supports like bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa where customary.
