षडध्ववेदनम् (Ṣaḍadhva-vedanam) — The Sixfold Path: Sound, Meaning, and Tattva-Distribution
Suta Goswami (narrating the Vāyavīya philosophical teaching to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Shakti Form: Umā
Role: teaching
It teaches non-division in Shiva: although scripture may describe Shiva as both the agent (kartā) and the cause (kāraṇa) for understanding creation and grace, the realized truth is one Shiva alone—pointing the seeker toward single-pointed devotion and liberation (moksha) in Pati.
The Linga worship presents the one Shiva in an accessible form (Saguna for upasana) while affirming that the same Lord is the transcendent ground (Nirguna). Thus, worship does not split Shiva into two gods; it honors one Shiva appearing as both cause and guiding Lord.
Meditate on Shiva as the single reality behind all actions and origins while repeating the Panchakshara mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya); offer worship to the Linga with bhasma (Tripuṇḍra) and Rudraksha as supports for steady remembrance of the one Pati.
