FAQs

It portrays the pashu-condition: beings bound by pasha (limiting bonds) swing between fear and valor. In Shaiva Siddhanta, true steadiness arises when fear is dissolved through Pati (Shiva) and inner discipline, not merely through outward heroism.

The Linga symbolizes the unmoving center (Shiva) amid movement and turmoil. Remembering Saguna Shiva in crisis stabilizes the mind, turning panic into dharmic resolve—standing firm while remaining inwardly surrendered.

A practical takeaway is japa of the Panchakshara—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—to steady breath and mind when fear surges, along with mental recollection of Shiva as the fearless refuge (abhaya) before action.
