नारदप्रश्नवर्णन (Nāradapraśna-varṇana) — “Account of Nārada’s Inquiry”

बहुभ्यश्च श्रुतं पूर्वं न तृप्तोऽस्मि जगत्प्रभो । अतस्त्वां शरणं प्राप्तः कृपां कुरु ममोपरि

bahubhyaśca śrutaṃ pūrvaṃ na tṛpto'smi jagatprabho | atastvāṃ śaraṇaṃ prāptaḥ kṛpāṃ kuru mamopari

Ó Senhor do universo, antes ouvi muitos ensinamentos de muitos, e ainda assim não estou satisfeito. Por isso venho a Ti em refúgio—concede a Tua graça sobre mim.

It teaches that hearing many teachings is incomplete without inner fulfillment; true resolution arises through śaraṇāgati to Shiva (Pati), whose grace transforms knowledge into realization and peace.

Approaching Shiva as ‘jagatprabhu’ expresses Saguna devotion—turning to the Lord as refuge. In Linga worship, this same attitude is enacted by offering, prayer, and reliance on Shiva’s anugraha (grace) rather than pride in learning.

A simple practice is daily śaraṇāgati-prārthanā to Shiva with japa of the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” ideally alongside Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and mindful humility, asking for Shiva’s कृपा (grace).
