FAQs

This verse illustrates the Purana’s technical-ritual strand (karma-kāṇḍa style instruction), showing how specific materials, timing (night), and homa procedure are believed to produce concrete results—emphasizing precision in ritual acts rather than devotional theology in this particular passage.

It does not directly teach Vishnu-bhakti here; instead, it belongs to the technical sciences portion of Book 1.3, focusing on ritual efficacy. In Narada Purana’s broader framework, such karma-oriented instructions are typically considered secondary to purifying devotion, but this verse itself is primarily procedural.

It highlights applied ritual knowledge connected to Kalpa (procedure of rites) and dravya-prayoga (selection and preparation of ritual substances like seeds and ghee), including the importance of kāla (timing—performing the homa at night).
