The Account of Hanumān
स भवान्देवदेवेशः कस्मै विरचितांजलिः । नमस्कारादिपुण्यानां फलदस्त्वं महेश्वरर ॥ १९८ ॥
sa bhavāndevadeveśaḥ kasmai viracitāṃjaliḥ | namaskārādipuṇyānāṃ phaladastvaṃ maheśvarara || 198 ||
Ó Senhor dos deuses, a quem ofereceste as mãos postas? Ó Maheśvara, tu és o doador dos frutos dos méritos, como as reverências e outros atos piedosos.
Narada (addressing Maheshvara/Shiva in reverential inquiry)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It highlights the paradox of the Supreme being offering añjali, and affirms that the Lord (Maheśvara) dispenses the karmic and spiritual fruits of simple devotional merits like namaskāra.
By elevating namaskāra and añjali as potent bhakti-practices, the verse teaches that sincere reverence—expressed even through simple gestures—yields divine grace and tangible spiritual results.
Ritual-practice discipline is implied: correct performance of devotional upacāras such as añjali and namaskāra, and the doctrine that actions (karma) bear fruits (phala) under divine governance.
