Dharmopadeśa-Śānti: Rules of Impurity, Expiations, and Ancestor Rites

आत्मानं घातयेद्यस्तु रज्ज्वादिभिरुपक्रमैः । मृते मेध्येन लेत्पव्यो जीवतो द्विशतं दमः ॥ १९ ॥

ātmānaṃ ghātayedyastu rajjvādibhirupakramaiḥ | mṛte medhyena letpavyo jīvato dviśataṃ damaḥ || 19 ||

Mas quem tirar a própria vida com corda e meios semelhantes—se já morreu, o corpo deve ser disposto após ser ungido com substância purificadora; se ainda vive, deve ser multado em duzentos (paṇa/dama).
