Adhyaya 82 — The Rise of Mahishasura and the Manifestation of the Goddess from the Gods’ Tejas
Śaraṇāgati is presented as an active moral turning: acknowledging disorder, narrating truthfully, and requesting decisive action for the protection of the world.
Carita (narrative) functioning as dharma-teaching: proper response to overwhelming adharma is coordinated appeal to the highest principle.
The ‘enemy of immortals’ can be read as the force that undermines deathlessness (amṛtatva) within—ignorance and pride. Refuge indicates the inward return to the source (Śakti) that alone can dissolve it.
