The verse highlights how human action in epic narrative is often portrayed as moving under the pressure of kāla (Time/destiny). Bhīma’s charge embodies kṣatriya resolve and the drive for retributive justice, while also suggesting that events unfold with an inevitability beyond individual will.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Bhīma seizes a large, gold-adorned mace made of Śaikya iron and rushes to attack Jayadratha (the Saindhava), described as being driven by Time—signaling an imminent, fateful confrontation.
