Yudhiṣṭhira’s Lament on Kāla and Daiva after Draupadī’s Recovery

The verse highlights how outwardly dharmic acts like yajñas can be intertwined with worldly motives—status, influence, and political maneuvering—so discernment is needed when responding to invitations framed as ‘righteous’ occasions.
A message is delivered urging the recipients to come and witness a king’s desired sacrifice; in context, it is presented as Duryodhana’s invitation, conveyed through Duḥśāsana, to draw others to the royal ritual gathering.
