Nahūṣa-Ājagara Saṃvāda: Yudhiṣṭhira’s Definition of Brāhmaṇa and the ‘Vedyam’ Debate
वेश्मानि तान्यप्रतिमानि पश्चन् क्रीडाश्व नानाद्रुमसंनिबद्धा: चचार धन्वी बहुधा नरेन्द्र: सोअस्त्रेषु यत्त: सततं किरीटी,वहाँ कुबेरके अनुपम भवन बने हुए थे। नाना प्रकारके वृक्षोंके निकट अनेक प्रकारके खेल होते रहते थे। उन सबको देखते हुए किरीटधारी अर्जुन बहुधा वहाँ विचरा करते और हाथमें धनुष लेकर सदा अस्त्रोंके अभ्यासमें संलग्न रहते थे

veśmāni tāny apratimāni paśyan krīḍāś ca nānādruṃsaṃnibaddhāḥ |
cacāra dhanvī bahudhā narendraḥ so 'streṣu yattaḥ satataṃ kirīṭī ||
Disse Vaiśampāyana: Ao contemplar aquelas mansões incomparáveis—erguidas entre árvores de muitas espécies e cercadas por variados recreios—Arjuna, o de diadema, com o arco na mão, vagava ali repetidas vezes, sempre aplicado ao exercício das armas. A cena ressalta a disciplina do aperfeiçoamento: mesmo em meio ao esplendor e ao lazer, o dever de um kṣatriya exige prontidão constante e maestria, não entrega à indulgência.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined vigilance: even when surrounded by extraordinary comfort and entertainment, Arjuna remains continually devoted to martial practice. It reflects kṣatriya-dharma—readiness, skill, and restraint—placing duty and self-control above pleasure.
Vaiśampāyana describes Arjuna moving about among magnificent, incomparable mansions set near diverse trees and recreations. While observing these sights, he repeatedly roams there with his bow, constantly engaged in the practice and mastery of weapons.
