Bhīmasena–Hanūmān Saṃvāda: The Tail Test and the Divine Path
The verse frames an ethical contrast: true power is not mere aggression but controlled awareness. Hanūmān’s measured opening of the eyes and smiling approach suggest mastery over emotion and the ability to correct arrogance through calm, discerning speech.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Hanūmān notices someone, opens his eyes slightly, looks at him with a hint of disdain, then approaches smiling and begins to speak—introducing a consequential conversation in the episode.
