महाह्द समासाद्य काश्यपस्तपसि स्थित: । दीर्घकालं परिश्रानन््त ऋषि: स देवसम्मित:,कश्यपगोत्रीय विभाण्डक मुनि देवताओंके समान सुन्दर थे। वे एक बहुत बड़े कुण्डमें प्रविष्ट होकर तपस्या करने लगे। उन्होंने दीर्घकालतक महान् क्लेश सहन किया
mahāhradaṃ samāsādya kāśyapas tapasi sthitaḥ | dīrghakālaṃ pariśrānto ṛṣiḥ sa devasammitaḥ ||
Tendo alcançado um vasto lago, o sábio Kāśyapa entregou-se ali a severas austeridades. Por longo tempo suportou fadigas extenuantes; esse ṛṣi, venerado como igual aos deuses, permaneceu firme em sua penitência.

The verse highlights tapas as a dharmic discipline: sustained effort, restraint, and willingness to bear hardship for a higher spiritual aim. Ethical strength is shown not by ease, but by steadfastness over time.
A revered sage named Kāśyapa reaches a large lake and undertakes prolonged austerities there, enduring fatigue and hardship while remaining firmly established in penance.
