Ṛśyaśṛṅgopākhyāna-praveśaḥ — Lomāśa narrates the origins of Ṛśyaśṛṅga and the Anga drought (ऋश्यशृङ्गोपाख्यान-प्रवेशः)
शृणु पुत्रो यथा जात ऋष्यशुड़ प्रतापवान् | महाहस्य महातेजा बाल: स्थविरसम्मत:,लोमशजीने कहा--राजन! ब्रह्मर्षि विभाण्डकका अन्तःकरण तपस्यासे पवित्र हो गया था। वे प्रजापतिके समान तेजस्वी और अमोघवीर्य महात्मा थे। उनके प्रतापी पुत्र ऋष्यशृंगका जन्म कैसे हुआ, यह बताता हूँ, सुनो। जैसे विभाण्डक मुनि परम पूजनीय थे, वैसे ही उनका पुत्र भी बड़ा तेजस्वी हुआ। वह बाल्यावस्थामें भी वृद्ध पुरुषोंद्वारा सम्मानित होता था
śṛṇu putro yathā jāta ṛṣyaśṛṅgaḥ pratāpavān | mahāhāsyaḥ mahātejā bālaḥ sthavira-sammataḥ ||
Lomaśa disse: “Ouve, ó rei, como nasceu o ilustre Ṛṣyaśṛṅga. Embora ainda menino, resplandecia com grande poder de austeridade, trazia uma alegria inocente e suave, e era estimado até pelos anciãos.”
