Jñāna-plava (The Raft of Knowledge): Svabhāva, Prajñā, and the Ascent to Ātmajñāna
The verse teaches that true steadiness and wisdom show themselves in two restraints: non-violence toward others and freedom from envy. A dhīra person neither harms others nor feels inner anguish when others prosper.
In Śānti Parva’s instruction on dharma and right conduct, Jaigiṣavya describes the marks of the virtuous/steadfast: they live without mutual hostility, do not commit हिंसा, and remain untroubled by others’ success.
