The verse highlights the ethical importance of attentiveness and stewardship in household life: neglect of one’s responsibilities leads to disorder and loss of well-being, whereas dharma in the gṛhastha setting includes careful management of shared resources.
Śakra describes a scene of domestic disorder: tools and utensils are scattered, and the housewife is not supervising or maintaining the household goods, illustrating a lapse in proper household conduct.
