अध्याय ९ — दुर्योधनस्य अन्त्यावस्था, विलापः, तथा सौप्तिक-प्रतिवृत्तम्
Duryodhana’s Final Condition, Lamentation, and the Night’s Report
प्राणानुपासृजद् वीर: सुहृदां दुःखमुत्सूजन् । अपाक्रामद् दिवं पुण्यां शरीरं क्षितिमाविशत्
prāṇān upāsṛjad vīraḥ suhṛdāṁ duḥkham utsṛjan | apākrāmad divaṁ puṇyāṁ śarīraṁ kṣitim āviśat ||
Disse Sañjaya: O herói soltou o sopro vital, lançando fora a tristeza que pesava sobre os que lhe queriam bem. Partiu para o céu meritório, enquanto seu corpo físico retornou à terra—permanecendo aqui, sobre o chão.
