अध्याय ९ — दुर्योधनस्य अन्त्यावस्था, विलापः, तथा सौप्तिक-प्रतिवृत्तम्
Duryodhana’s Final Condition, Lamentation, and the Night’s Report
स्वस्ति प्राप्तुत भद्रं व: स्वर्गे न: संगम: पुन: । इत्येवमुक्त्वा तूष्णी स कुरुराजो महामना:,“तुम सब लोगोंका कल्याण हो। तुम्हें सुख प्राप्त हो। अब स्वर्गमें ही हमलोगोंका पुनर्मिलन होगा।/ ऐसा कहकर महामनस्वी वीर कुरुराज दुर्योधन चुप हो गया और अपने सुहृदोंके लिये दुःख छोड़कर उसने अपने प्राण त्याग दिये। वह स्वयं तो पुण्यधाम स्वर्गलोकमें चला गया; किंतु उसका पार्थिव शरीर इस पृथ्वीपर ही पड़ा रह गया
svasti prāptuta bhadraṃ vaḥ svarge naḥ saṅgamaḥ punaḥ | ityevam uktvā tūṣṇīṃ sa kururājo mahāmanāḥ ||
Disse Sañjaya: “Que a bênção esteja convosco; que alcanceis a felicidade. No céu, de fato, nos encontraremos de novo.” Tendo assim falado, o rei dos Kurus, de grande alma, calou-se. Na dor da despedida de seus companheiros, Duryodhana entregou a vida—ele próprio partiu para o céu meritório, enquanto seu corpo mortal permaneceu estendido sobre a terra.
