Dyūta-kathā-praśnaḥ — Inquiry into the Dice-Game Calamity

गते पितामहे राजा चिन्ताशोकसमन्वित: । निःश्वसन्नुष्णमसकृत्‌ तमेवार्थ विचिन्तयन्‌

Transliteration

gate pitāmahe rājā cintāśokasamanvitaḥ | niḥśvasann uṣṇam asakṛt tam evārthaṁ vicintayan ||

Translation

Quando o venerável ancião partiu, o rei Yudhiṣṭhira — tomado por ansiedade e pesar — soltava repetidas vezes suspiros ardentes, revolvendo o mesmo assunto em sua mente. Refletiu sobre como o decreto do destino poderia ser evitado pelo esforço humano e concluiu que tudo o que o grande sábio declarara certamente se cumpriria.
