The Tumult of Battle Described
सादिनश्चाश्वपृष्ठेभ्यो भूमौ चापि पदातिन: । गदया व्यधमत् सर्वान् वातो वृक्षानिवौजसा
sādinaścāśvapṛṣṭhebhyo bhūmau cāpi padātinaḥ | gadayā vyadhamat sarvān vāto vṛkṣānivaujasā ||
Disse Sañjaya: Com sua maça ele abateu a todos—tanto os cavaleiros, derrubando-os de suas montarias, quanto os infantes no chão—como um vento poderoso que arranca árvores. O verso ressalta a força avassaladora e impessoal da violência no campo de batalha: força e ímpeto podem dispersar fileiras sem olhar a condição, lembrando a destruição rápida e niveladora da guerra.
