Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
देवपत्न्यश्न कन्याश्ष् देवानां चैव मातर: । आजम्मुः सहितास्तत्र तदा भगुकुलोद्वह
devapatnyaś ca kanyāś ca devānāṃ caiva mātaraḥ | ājagmuḥ sahitās tatra tadā bhṛgukulodvaha bhṛgukulabhūṣaṇa ||
Vasiṣṭha disse: As esposas dos deuses, as donzelas celestes e também as mães dos deuses chegaram ali juntas. Ó o mais eminente e ornamento da linhagem de Bhṛgu, vieram para tomar parte naquele rito sagrado—mostrando que até a ordem divina se reúne em unidade para honrar um sacrifício bem conduzido e a disciplina que o sustenta.
वसिष्ठ उवाच
The verse highlights the sanctity and social-cosmic importance of a properly upheld sacred rite: when dharma is embodied through disciplined ritual order, even divine beings are portrayed as gathering in harmony to honor it.
Vasiṣṭha describes a grand assembly at the site of a rite: the wives of the gods, celestial maidens, and the mothers of the gods arrive together, and the addressee is respectfully hailed as the foremost ornament of the Bhṛgu lineage.
