Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
अग्न्यभावे च कुरुते वह्निस्थानेषु काउ्चनम् | जामदग्न्य प्रमाणज्ञो वेदश्रुतिनिदर्शनात्
agnyabhāve ca kurute vahnistāneṣu kāñcanam | jāmadagnyaḥ pramāṇajño vedaśrutinidarśanāt ||
Vasiṣṭha disse: “Quando o fogo não está disponível, um conhecedor da autoridade válida (pramāṇa)—como mostra a revelação védica—pode empregar ouro no lugar em que o fogo é requerido. Ó Paraśurāma, filho de Jamadagni, isso ilustra que o dharma se mantém seguindo o precedente védico e adotando um substituto sancionado quando as circunstâncias impedem o rito principal.”
