Brahmagītā: Praise of Brāhmaṇas and norms of honor
शरणागतेषु चैवं त्वं कुरु सर्व युधिष्ठिर
śyena uvāca | śaraṇāgateṣu caivaṁ tvaṁ kuru sarvaṁ yudhiṣṭhira | yudhiṣṭhira! tvam api śaraṇāgatānāṁ kṛte evam eva svam sarvasvaṁ nicchāvaraṁ kuru | yo manuṣyaḥ svabhakta-premi-śaraṇāgata-puruṣāṇāṁ rakṣāṁ karoti tathā sarva-prāṇiṣu dayāṁ dhatte sa paraloke sukhaṁ prāpnoti |
Disse o Falcão: “Assim também, ó Yudhiṣṭhira, procede deste modo para com os que buscam refúgio. Ó Yudhiṣṭhira, em favor dos que se rendem e vêm sob tua proteção, deves oferecer até mesmo tudo o que tens, sem nada reter. Aquele que protege seus devotos, os que o amam e os que chegam em busca de abrigo, e que mantém compaixão por todos os seres vivos, alcança a felicidade no mundo vindouro.”
