अग्रणीर्ग्रामणी: श्रीमान् न््यायो नेता समीरण: । सहस्मूर्धा विश्वात्मा सहस्राक्ष: सहस्रपात्
agraṇīr grāmaṇīḥ śrīmān nyāyo netā samīraṇaḥ | sahasramūrdhā viśvātmā sahasrākṣaḥ sahasrapāt ||
Bhīṣma prossegue no hino dos nomes divinos: Ele é o guia primeiro que conduz os buscadores; o líder de todos os seres; radiante em esplendor. É a própria encarnação da justiça e do reto raciocínio; o governador que põe o mundo em movimento; o sopro—vento vital que impele a ação nas criaturas. E é descrito em imagens vastas e onipresentes: de mil cabeças, o Si do universo, de mil olhos e de mil pés.
