आवर्तनो निवृत्तात्मा संवृत: सम्प्रमर्दन: । अहःसंवर्तको वल्लिरनिलो धरणीधर:
āvartano nivṛttātmā saṁvṛtaḥ sampramardanaḥ | ahaḥsaṁvartako vahnir anilo dharaṇīdharaḥ ||
Bhīṣma disse: Ele é quem põe em movimento a roda da existência, e contudo o seu próprio Ser permanece para sempre livre de todo laço. Velado por seu poder ióguico, ainda assim se torna a força que esmaga e subjuga tudo por meio de suas formas terríveis. Como Sol, faz surgir o dia com retidão; como Fogo, leva a oblação; como Vento, move-se como o sopro vital; e como Sustentador da Terra—como Varāha e Śeṣa—ampara o mundo. Assim, o Senhor é louvado como uma única realidade que se manifesta em muitas funções cósmicas.
