Householder Duties and Daily Offerings
इस प्रकार बलि समर्पण करके ब्राह्मणको विधिपूर्वक भिक्षा दे। यदि ब्राह्मण न मिले तो अन्नमेंसे थोड़ा-सा अग्रग्रास निकालकर उसका अग्निमें होम कर दे ।।
yadā śrāddhaṃ pitṛbhyo 'pi dātum icchet mānavaḥ | tadā paścāt prakurvīta nivṛtte śrāddhakarmaṇi ||
Assim, depois de oferecer o bali, dê-se esmola ao brâmane segundo o rito. Se não se encontrar brâmane, retire-se do alimento um pequeno bocado inicial e ofereça-se em homa ao fogo. E, se o homem também desejar oferecer um śrāddha aos Pitṛs (espíritos ancestrais), que o faça somente depois—quando o rito principal do śrāddha tiver sido devidamente concluído.
