Yayāti’s Abdication and Pūru’s Coronation
The verse highlights ethical caution in accepting claims of authority: legitimacy should be verified through the proper source. Devayānī insists that a claim about royal wealth must be confirmed by the king himself, emphasizing credibility, due process, and appropriate testimony.
Devayānī responds to Bhārgava (Śukra) regarding a claim of control over the king’s wealth. She refuses to accept it solely on his assertion and demands direct confirmation from the king, showing her insistence on clear authorization.
