Vāraṇāvata-prasaṃsā and the Pāṇḍavas’ Departure (वरणावत-प्रशंसा तथा पाण्डव-प्रयाणम्)
मम भोगाश्च वित्त च त्वदधीनं सुखानि च । एवमुक््त्वाथ वबच्राज कृतास्त्र: पूजितो मया,“तात! जब पांचालनरेश मुझे राज्यपर अभिषिक्त करेंगे, उस समय मेरा राज्य तुम्हारे उपभोगमें आयेगा। सखे! मैं सत्यकी सौगंध खाकर कहता हूँ--मेरे भोग, वैभव और सुख सब तुम्हारे अधीन होंगे।' यों कहकर वे अस्त्रविद्यामें निपुण हो मुझसे सम्मानित होकर अपने देशको लौट गये
mama bhogāś ca vittaṃ ca tvad-adhīnaṃ sukhāni ca | evam uktvātha vacaḥ rāja kṛtāstraḥ pūjito mayā |
Vaiśampāyana disse: “Meus gozos e minhas riquezas, e também meus confortos, estão sob teu domínio.” Tendo assim falado, o príncipe—já plenamente instruído no uso das armas—foi por mim honrado e então retornou ao seu país.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Power and prosperity gained through learning—especially martial skill—should be governed by dharma: gratitude to one’s teacher, truthfulness in pledges, and the ethical use of wealth and enjoyment as responsibilities rather than mere personal entitlement.
A royal disciple, having completed weapons-training, makes a solemn promise that his future enjoyments, wealth, and comforts will be at his teacher’s disposal. After this pledge, he is honoured by the teacher and departs for his homeland.
