Adhyaya 89: शौचाचारलक्षणम् — सदाचार, भैक्ष्यचर्या, प्रायश्चित्त, द्रव्यशुद्धि, आशौच-निर्णय

चक्षुःपूतं चरेन्मार्गं वस्त्रपूतं जलं पिबेत् सत्यपूतं वदेद्वाक्यं मनःपूतं समाचरेत्

cakṣuḥpūtaṃ carenmārgaṃ vastrapūtaṃ jalaṃ pibet satyapūtaṃ vadedvākyaṃ manaḥpūtaṃ samācaret

Que se caminhe apenas por um caminho purificado pelos olhos (isto é, cuidadosamente examinado). Que se beba água purificada por um pano (devidamente coada). Que se diga palavra purificada pela verdade. Que se pratiquem atos purificados pela mente (interiormente limpa e firme).
