Prelude to Samudra-manthana
निशाम्यैतत् सुरगणा महेन्द्रवरुणादय: । नाध्यगच्छन्स्वयं मन्त्रैर्मन्त्रयन्तो विनिश्चितम् ॥ १७ ॥ ततो ब्रह्मसभां जग्मुर्मेरोर्मूर्धनि सर्वश: । सर्वं विज्ञापयां चक्रु: प्रणता: परमेष्ठिने ॥ १८ ॥
niśāmyaitat sura-gaṇā mahendra-varuṇādayaḥ nādhyagacchan svayaṁ mantrair mantrayanto viniścitam
Śrī Śukadeva disse: Vendo tal situação, Indra, Varuṇa e os demais devas consultaram-se entre si, mas não encontraram, por seus próprios conselhos, uma solução definitiva. Então todos os devas se reuniram e foram ao cume do monte Sumeru, à assembleia de Brahmā; ali prostraram-se para oferecer reverências a Paramēṣṭhī Brahmā e lhe relataram todos os acontecimentos.
Because the situation was beyond their independent capacity; even after deliberation, they could not find a sure solution and needed higher guidance.
It teaches that human or celestial strategy has limits; when clarity does not arise, one should seek shelter of a higher, spiritually authoritative source.
Do your best deliberation, but if uncertainty persists, seek guidance from genuine spiritual teachers and scripture rather than relying only on ego-driven planning.
