कामो॑ जज्ञे प्रथ॒मो नैनं॑ दे॒वा आ॑पुः पि॒तरो॒ न मर्त्याः॑ । तत॒स्त्वम॑सि॒ ज्याया॑न् वि॒श्वहा॑ म॒हांस्तस्मै॑ ते काम॒ नम॒ इत् कृ॑णोमि
kā́mo jajñe prathamó náinaṁ devā́ ā́puḥ pitáro ná mártyāḥ | tátas tvám asi jyā́yān viśváhā mahā́ṁs tásmai te kā́ma náma íd kṛṇomi
Kāma was born the first: him neither Gods attained, nor Fathers, nor mortals. Therefore art thou ever greater, mighty: to thee, O Kāma, to him—homage, even so, I render.
Kāma nasceu primeiro: nem os deuses o alcançaram, nem os Pais (Pitṛ), nem os mortais. Por isso és para sempre o maior, o poderoso; a ti, ó Kāma—a ele—eu presto homenagem, assim mesmo a realizo.
