एतस्मिन्नेव काले तु उत्पातास्तत्र दारुणाः । अपसव्यं मृगाश्चक्रुः पशवः पक्षिणश्च ये । तान्दृष्ट्वा चिन्तयामास मुद्गलो विस्मयान्वितः
etasminneva kāle tu utpātāstatra dāruṇāḥ | apasavyaṃ mṛgāścakruḥ paśavaḥ pakṣiṇaśca ye | tāndṛṣṭvā cintayāmāsa mudgalo vismayānvitaḥ
ਉਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਅਪਸ਼ਕੁਨ ਉੱਠੇ; ਮ੍ਰਿਗ, ਪਸ਼ੂ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਛੀ ਅਪਸਵ੍ਯ—ਖੱਬੇ ਪਾਸੇ—ਚਲਣ ਲੱਗੇ। ਉਹ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੁਦਗਲ ਅਚੰਭੇ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ।
