striyaḥ pavitrāḥ satataṃ naitā duṣyaṃti kenacit | māsimāsi rajastāsāṃ duṣkṛtānyapakarṣati
Skanda
Tirtha: Kāśī
Type: kshetra
Scene: A serene feminine figure associated with purity—woman seated near a lamp and lotus, with a gentle aura; symbolic depiction of ‘apakarṣaṇa’ as dark wisps dissolving into water/lotus petals, suggesting cleansing rather than pollution.
It affirms women’s inherent purity and frames a natural bodily cycle as linked with the removal of moral impurity.
The verse is situated in the Kāśī Khaṇḍa teaching context; it is not tied to a single named tīrtha but belongs to Kāśī’s dharma exposition.
No specific rite is prescribed; it provides a doctrinal statement about purity and the purificatory implication attributed to the monthly cycle.
