मतिमद्भ्यो नराः श्रेष्ठास्तेभ्य श्रेष्ठास्तु वाडवाः । विप्रेभ्योऽपि च विद्वांसो विद्वद्भ्यः कृतबुद्धयः

Transliteration

matimadbhyo narāḥ śreṣṭhāstebhya śreṣṭhāstu vāḍavāḥ | viprebhyo'pi ca vidvāṃso vidvadbhyaḥ kṛtabuddhayaḥ

Translation

ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਮਤਿਵਾਨਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਸੰਸਕਾਰਵਾਨ) ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਹਨ; ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਾਡਵਾਃ ਹੋਰ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ; ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਉੱਚੇ; ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਕ੍ਰਿਤਬੁੱਧੀ—ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਸੰਵਰੀ ਤੇ ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਿਤ ਹੈ—ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਹਨ।
