Transliteration

brāhmaṇa uvāca | kimādarśena cāṃdhasya kiṃ gṛhairbhaikṣyajīvinaḥ | kiṃ pustakena mūrkhasya hyastrīkasya dhanena kim

Translation

ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ: ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਪਣ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਲਾਭ? ਭਿਖਿਆ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਘਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਕੰਮ? ਮੂਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਫਾਇਦਾ? ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਧਨ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਅਰਥ?
