देवत्वं यानि सत्त्वेन रजसा च मनुष्यताम् । तिर्यक्त्वं तमसा जंतुर्वासनानुगतोवशः

Transliteration

devatvaṃ yāni sattvena rajasā ca manuṣyatām | tiryaktvaṃ tamasā jaṃturvāsanānugatovaśaḥ

Translation

ਸੱਤ੍ਵ ਨਾਲ ਦੇਵਤਾ-ਭਾਵ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਰਜਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾ; ਤਮਸ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵ ਤਿਰ੍ਯਕ ਯੋਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਿੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ—ਵਾਸਨਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਖਿੱਚ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੇਬਸ ਹੋ ਕੇ।
