ईश्वर उवाच । पूर्वं त्रेतायुगे स्कन्द हतो रामेण रावणः । चतुर्दश तदा कोट्यो निहता ब्रह्मरक्षसाम्
īśvara uvāca | pūrvaṃ tretāyuge skanda hato rāmeṇa rāvaṇaḥ | caturdaśa tadā koṭyo nihatā brahmarakṣasām
ਈਸ਼ਵਰ (ਸ਼ਿਵ) ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ: ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤ੍ਰੇਤਾ ਯੁਗ ਵਿੱਚ, ਹੇ ਸਕੰਦ, ਰਾਮ ਨੇ ਰਾਵਣ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਿਆ; ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਰਾਕਸ਼ਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਚੌਦਾਂ ਕਰੋੜ ਸੰਖਿਆ ਵੀ ਨਾਸ ਹੋਈ।
