प्रतिष्ठा प्रोच्यते कैश्चित्कैश्चित्संप्रोक्षणक्रमः । संप्रोक्षणे तु लिंगादेर्देवमुद्वास्य पूर्ववत्

ਕੁਝ ਆਚਾਰਯ ਇਸ ਕਰਮ ਨੂੰ ‘ਪ੍ਰਤਿਸ਼ਠਾ’ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ‘ਸੰਪ੍ਰੋਖਣ-ਕ੍ਰਮ’ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸੰਪ੍ਰੋਖਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿੰਗ ਆਦਿ ਤੋਂ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੱਸੇ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਉਦਵਾਸਨ ਕਰਕੇ, ਫਿਰ ਸ਼ੁੱਧੀ-ਕਰਮ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।

Sthala Purana: Terminological clarification: some teachers label the restorative rite ‘pratiṣṭhā’, others ‘saṃprokṣaṇa-krama’. In saṃprokṣaṇa, the deity is first ritually withdrawn (udvāsa) from the liṅga and related supports, as earlier prescribed, before purification proceeds.
Significance: Establishes procedural orthodoxy and lineage-variation (ācārya-bheda) while preserving the core principle: invoked presence is respectfully withdrawn before re-purification—protecting sanctity and efficacy.
It emphasizes ritual clarity and reverence: the invoked presence of Shiva in the Liṅga is honored as a living divine manifestation, and procedures like consecration or sprinkling are performed only after properly following the prescribed order.
The verse treats the Liṅga as a valid saguna support for worship where the Deity is invoked and ritually present; that presence is not handled casually—before purification steps, the worshipper ritually withdraws/dismisses the invoked Deity according to rule.
A practical takeaway is disciplined pūjā-krama: invoke Shiva with mantra, and when a purification/renewal rite is required, perform a proper udvāsana (formal dismissal) before saṃprokṣaṇa—maintaining mantra-based attentiveness and purity of conduct.
