It highlights the Shaiva Siddhanta insight that the Supreme Pati (Śiva), though beginningless and primordial, can appear within the created order in a relational role (such as “son”) for the sake of cosmic function and the liberation of bound souls.
The verse points to the paradox of the transcendent becoming accessible: the same Rudra who is beyond manifestation is worshipped as Saguna—especially in the Liṅga—so devotees can approach, serve, and realize the Supreme through a concrete divine presence.
Contemplate Śiva as both beyond form and graciously manifest, while repeating the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with devotion; this aligns the mind to the truth that the Supreme can be approached through worship and inner meditation.
