शिवशङ्खचूडयुद्धवर्णनम् / Description of the Battle between Śiva and Śaṅkhacūḍa
छिन्नेऽसौ चर्मणि तदा शक्तिं चिक्षेप सोऽसुरः । द्विधा चक्रे स्वबाणेन हरस्तां संमुखागताम्
chinne'sau carmaṇi tadā śaktiṃ cikṣepa so'suraḥ | dvidhā cakre svabāṇena harastāṃ saṃmukhāgatām
ਢਾਲ ਕੱਟੀ ਜਾਣ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਅਸੁਰ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਸੁੱਟੀ; ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਉਸ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ (ਸ਼ਿਵ) ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਦੋ ਟੁਕੜੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

The asura’s weapon symbolizes pasha (binding forces like anger and pride) rushing toward the soul; Hara splitting it shows Pati (Śiva) neutralizing bondage through divine mastery and grace, protecting the seeker who turns toward him.
Though the verse is a battlefield scene, it highlights Saguna Śiva as the active protector (Hara). Linga-worship trains the mind to take refuge in that same Lord who removes incoming harm—outer and inner—by his śakti and will.
A practical takeaway is protective japa of the Pañcākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—with bhakti and steadiness; mentally offer incoming negativity to Hara and visualize it being rendered powerless, like the spear split in two.
