Sukta 10.13

देवेभ्यः कमवृणीत मृत्युं प्रजायै कममृतं नावृणीत । बृहस्पतिं यज्ञमकृण्वत ऋषिं प्रियां यमस्तन्वं प्रारिरेचीत् ॥

devébhyaḥ kám avṛṇīta mṛtyúṃ pra-jā́yai kám amṛ́taṃ ná avṛṇīta | bṛ́haspátiṃ yajñám akṛṇvata ṛ́ṣiṃ priyā́ṃ yámas tanváṃ prá arirecīt ||

ਦੇਵਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੌਤ ਲਈ ਚੁਣਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਲਈ ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਮ੍ਰਿਤਤਵ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੁਣਿਆ? ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਹਸਪਤਿ ਨੂੰ ਯਜ੍ਞ ਬਣਾਇਆ—ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ; ਯਮ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਨੂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗੇ ਫੈਲਾਇਆ—ਮਰਤ੍ਯ ਦੇਹ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਖੇਤਰ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਮ ਸਿੱਧ ਵੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਤੀਤ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
