vedaśāstropadeśena taṃ pūrvamabhivādayet | asāvahamiti brūyāddijo vai hyabhivādane || 35 ||
Narada (in instruction, within the Narada–Sanatkumara dialogue frame)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta (peace)
Secondary Rasa: bhakti (devotion)
It frames respectful salutation (abhivādana) as a Veda-śāstra injunction, making humility, reverence to elders/teachers, and disciplined conduct a direct part of dharma.
While not naming a deity here, it supports bhakti indirectly by cultivating humility and proper reverence—qualities considered essential for receiving instruction and developing steady devotion.
It highlights practical dharma-vidhi (ritual etiquette): during abhivādana a dvija should formally identify himself (“asāv aham”), reflecting the śāstric protocol used in rites and social-religious interactions.
