Adhyaya 27 — Madālasa’s Instruction to King Alarka: Royal Ethics, Self-Conquest, and Statecraft
प्रागात्मा मन्त्रिणश्चैव ततो भृत्या महीभृता ।
जेयाश्चानन्तरं पौराः विरुध्येत ततोऽरिभिः ॥
prāg ātmā mantriṇaś caiva tato bhṛtyā mahībhṛtā /
jeyāś cānantaraṃ paurā virudhyeta tato 'ribhiḥ
ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਫਿਰ ਮੰਤਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ, ਫਿਰ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ। ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਨਾਗਰਿਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਬੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆਵੇ; ਤਦ ਹੀ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਕਰੇ।
