Daṇḍanīti and the King as the Cause of Yuga-Order (दण्डनीतिः राजधर्मश्च युगकारणत्वम्)
प्रवृद्धानां च वृक्षाणां शाखां प्रच्छेदयेत् तथा । चैत्यानां सर्वथा त्याज्यमपि पत्रस्य पातनम्
pravṛddhānāṃ ca vṛkṣāṇāṃ śākhāṃ pracchedayet tathā | caityānāṃ sarvathā tyājyam api patrasya pātanam ||
ਜੋ ਰੁੱਖ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਧ ਕੇ ਫੈਲ ਗਏ ਹੋਣ, ਲੋੜ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਟਾਹਣੀਆਂ ਕੱਟੀਆਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ; ਪਰ ਚੈਤ੍ਯ-ਸੰਬੰਧੀ (ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ) ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ—ਇੱਕ ਪੱਤਾ ਵੀ ਨਾਹ ਝੜੇ।
