गर्भे दुःखान्यनेकानि योनिमार्गे च भूतले कौमारे यौवने चैव वार्द्धके मरणे ऽपि वा

Transliteration

garbhe duḥkhānyanekāni yonimārge ca bhūtale kaumāre yauvane caiva vārddhake maraṇe 'pi vā

Translation

ਗਰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਨੇਕ ਦੁੱਖ ਹਨ; ਫਿਰ ਜਨਮ-ਮਾਰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੀ। ਬਚਪਨ, ਜਵਾਨੀ, ਬੁਢਾਪੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਵੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ—ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਦੇਹ-ਬੰਧਨ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੱਝਿਆ ਪਸ਼ੂ-ਜੀਵ ਪਤੀ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈਂਦਾ।
