सवने स्यन्दने ऽर्थे च धातुर् एष विभाष्यते सवनात्तेजसो ऽपां च तेनासौ सविता मतः
Transliteration
savane syandane 'rthe ca dhātur eṣa vibhāṣyate savanāttejaso 'pāṃ ca tenāsau savitā mataḥ
Translation
ਇਹ ਧਾਤੁ ‘ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕਰਨਾ/ਉਤਪੰਨ ਕਰਨਾ’ ਅਤੇ ‘ਵਹਾਉਣਾ’—ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਰਥਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਤੇਜ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਜਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਹਿਤ ਕਰੇ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ‘ਸਵਿਤਾ’ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
