न वि जानामि यदिवेदमस्मि निण्यः संनद्धो मनसा चरामि । यदा मागन् प्रथमजा ऋतस्यादिद् वाचो अश्नुवे भागमस्याः

IAST Transliteration

ná ví jānāmi yádīvé́dam ásmi ninýāḥ sánnaddho mánasā cárāmi | yadā́ mā́gān prathamajā́ ṛtásyā́did vā́co aśnuvé bhāgám asyā́ḥ ||

English Translation (Griffith/Whitney)

I know not clearly whether I be even this: hidden, close-bound, I wander with the mind. When to me came the first-born of ṛta, then verily I attained a portion of this Speech.

Translation

ਮੈਂ ਸਾਫ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਇਹੀ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਨਹੀਂ; ਲੁਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ, ਕੱਸ ਕੇ ਬੱਝਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ, ਮੈਂ ਮਨ ਨਾਲ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਜਦੋਂ ਰਿਤ (ṛta) ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਜਨਮਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ, ਤਦ ਨਿਸ਼ਚੇ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਵਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
